Our week started off well when Kodiac Time, a 2 year old filly by Society Rock and in fact our first 2 year old runner of the season, was just touched off by a nose at Maisons-Laffitte on Tuesday. Hopefully she can win next time.
On Thursday, Moon Trouble (Lope De Vega), won the 5 furlong conditions race at the new Longchamp, our first runner there, on his seasonal reappearance. Settled in behind by Fabrice Veron, he was unleashed with 2 furlongs to go and he hit the front quickly. With the jockey not being hard on him, he idled a bit in front but hung on to win by a head. He posted a fast time of 56.7 seconds on very soft ground and won €19,500 in the process. He is a horse with a lot of quality and we will now look at the possibility of running him in a Group 3 back at Longchamp on 13th May.
Two days later, Lady Kyria won the 4yo handicap at Nantes over 2400m. This was the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor’s third time winning over this course and distance. She didn’t have a good draw but was settled in behind by Fabrice Veron and she was gradually moved up around the home bend and stayed on up the straight to win by a length. She can hopefully keep progressing in handicaps but we would also like to try and get some back type for her sometime in the year.
The day after, Bint Chattleya, a 3 year old filly by Masterstroke, finished very well up the straight to finish 2nd by a short head in the fillies maiden at Durtal. She should be able to win one of those maidens.
These were our only runners this week and they earned a total of €39,852.
